About Parker & Sons
A third-generation Upper Peninsula contractor, working out of Marquette since 2019.
Derek Parker, and the two generations before him
Derek is from the Copper Country. His father and grandfather were contractors, and he followed them into the trade — which is where the name comes from. Parker & Sons is named for that history and for his own two sons.
He founded Parker and Sons Contracting in 2019 to do the work he knows best: excavating, septic systems, driveways and hauling. The company has grown with the equipment to match, which is why the dirt work, the trucking and the winter plowing all come from the same crew.
How we work
Dates
You get a start date when you accept the estimate. Machines break and weather turns, and when that moves your date you hear it from us rather than having to ask.
Finishing
Cleanup is part of the job rather than a favor. We don't leave a site at ninety percent while the crew moves on to the next one.
Repairs before replacements
If patching the bad section will hold, that's what we quote. Smaller invoice, and usually the right answer.

Owning the iron is what lets us commit to a date. Nothing on this list is rented when the job starts:

Licensing & insurance
Parker and Sons Contracting LLC is licensed and insured for the work we perform. Certificates of insurance are available for your job file — just ask the office.

The family of companies
Parker and Sons Properties, founded in 2016, handles real estate development. Its projects include the renovation of the Birchmont Motel, the creation of the Park Place event venue, and the Parker Heights subdivision.
The contracting company came out of that work in 2019, and the two still share a yard, a name and a standard.

This company truly cares about providing the best service to their clients. During the busiest time of the building season Derek took our call and explained the best options to proceed with our aging home. He did all this knowing we were on the outer range of his service area however still offered to take care of parts of the job. Amazing person and company, you will not regret working with them.
