About 100 miles out from Marquette, and anywhere in the U.P. when the job justifies the trip.

Coverage

About 100 miles from Marquette

Our yard is on US-41 south of Marquette. Drawing a circle 100 miles out from it takes in Marquette and Alger counties, Delta and Dickinson to the south, Iron and Baraga to the west, and the Copper Country up to Calumet and Copper Harbor.

The circle is a guide rather than a boundary. What decides it is the size of the job. A morning of driveway grading two hours away doesn't pay for the travel. A week of excavating or a run of hauling does, and we work all over the Upper Peninsula on that basis.

If you're outside the circle, call anyway and tell us what the job is. Worst case we say no, and it costs you a phone call.

Towing goes further: the whole U.P.

The 100 miles above covers the excavating, septic, demolition, driveway, trucking and snow work. Towing is the exception and runs across the entire Upper Peninsula, 24 hours a day, on its own line: (906) 273-2410.

Farther out

Ontonagon, Menominee, Ironwood, Sault Ste. Marie, the Garden Peninsula. These are past the circle, but we have taken work in most of them. It comes down to how many days the job runs and whether we can keep a machine there rather than hauling it back and forth. Tell us what you need and we'll give you a straight answer.

Why local matters here

Why the local part matters

Spring weight restrictions

When the frost comes out, the county posts weight limits and loaded trucks can't run. It lasts weeks, and it decides whether a job happens in May or July.

Soil changes by the mile

Sand near the lake, clay inland, bedrock close to the surface once you get into the iron country. It changes how a driveway or a drainfield has to be built.

Snow is a design factor

Snow pushed into the wrong place in January is meltwater in the wrong place in April. We lay out driveways and lots with that in mind.
